Best Grok Imagine alternative for trying several video models
A Grok Imagine alternative does not have to mean giving up Grok video. SynthPulse offers Grok Imagine 1.5 video alongside Kling, Seedance and Veo in one web studio, without an X or Grok subscription. Choose it for a multi-model project. Stay with Grok if you want Imagine inside its chat and voice apps, or the wider X Subscription bundle. SynthPulse does not offer Grok Imagine image generation.
The short answer
Consider SynthPulse when
- You want Grok Imagine 1.5 video and another video model available from the same credit balance.
- You also need a separate image generator or an AI song for a short creative project.
Keep the original service when
- You want Grok chat, voice, Imagine and the X/Cursor subscription benefits together.
- You specifically need Grok Imagine’s image model or direct xAI API access.

When Grok is the better choice
Use Grok directly if image and video generation are part of the same conversation in which you use chat or voice. The native apps and the Grok tab on X are the official entry points for that experience. A separate production studio will not replace those surrounding uses. If you already value X or Cursor benefits, include them in the subscription calculation rather than comparing only the video feature.
The announcement dated 2026-10-12 says the new X Subscription combines Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium. It also says existing SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium subscriptions do not change. That is why this page avoids presenting an old plan label as the only route to Imagine. Check the offer for your account, especially if you already subscribe to one of those services.
SynthPulse runs Grok video, with a narrower scope
The SynthPulse option is Grok Imagine 1.5 video. It is not the Grok chat app, and the supplied model list does not include Grok Imagine image generation. For still images, choose among GPT Image, Nano Banana and Seedream instead. This distinction matters if your real goal is to preserve the output of a particular Grok image model. A different still-image generator is a substitute, not the same service.
Video controls also belong to the studio in which the model runs. Check SynthPulse’s model page and picker for the available length, resolution and reference inputs. Do not assume every option in the xAI API documentation is exposed locally. A useful reason to try this route is to compare the same scene with another supported video model using one balance, without buying a second native subscription.
Do not confuse a weekly pool with a clip price
xAI describes its subscription allowance as a shared weekly pool. Chat, Imagine, Voice and Bot use that pool alongside Cursor. Premium advertises four times Plus usage, Super fifteen times and Ultra fifty times. These multipliers are not published counts of finished videos. This page therefore does not translate a $30 subscription into a fixed number of clips or claim that every lower tier includes video.
The xAI API is priced separately. Its documentation lists grok-imagine-image-2.0 at $0.04 per image, video-1.5 from $0.08 per second and video-1.5-lite from $0.02 per second. Those are API rates, not SynthPulse prices or a promise of consumer-app allowances. For a SynthPulse task, read the studio’s quote after choosing the model and settings; for direct API work, use xAI’s current documentation.
Make a comparison with one visible action
Try a brief such as: “A cyclist waits at a rainy street corner at night. The camera stays still. The traffic light changes from red to green, reflected in a puddle.” This is a proposed test prompt, not a clip we have generated or scored. It gives you concrete things to inspect: a stable camera, a recognisable rider and a single change in the scene.
Run a short available version first. If you compare it with Kling or Seedance, keep the same brief and note any differences in duration and resolution offered by the pickers. Review the results rather than judging from model labels. An attractive frame is not enough if the movement misses the brief. Change one instruction before another attempt, so you can tell whether the change helped.
Build the rest of the project separately
A short social clip may need a cover and a musical idea as well as motion. In SynthPulse those are separate image and song tasks using the same balance. Start with the part that is hardest to change later: for a song-led teaser, settle the musical direction before producing many shots. For a product loop, approve the reference image and framing before spending credits on motion.
The short music-video workflow is useful when you want to assemble a project around a generated song. It does not turn the Grok video option into an image generator, nor does it bundle the X or Cursor services. If all you need is a single video inside a Grok conversation, moving the rest of your work to another studio may add steps rather than save them.
How to try the workflow in SynthPulse
Open video creation
Select Grok Imagine 1.5 in the video model picker. Choose from the settings shown for that option, and enter one scene with a clear subject and movement. You are using Grok video through SynthPulse, not signing into a Grok account.
Open the video studioCheck cost and result
Read the credit quote before generation, then follow the task status and review the completed clip in the studio. Check both the first frame and movement. A second attempt uses credits too; keep the brief focused.
Check local Grok limitsTry another model for the same brief
If the shot misses an important detail, compare a supported Kling or Seedance option. Keep notes on the displayed settings. Use image or song creation only when those outputs are needed for the final project.

Questions before you switch
Does this replace Grok with a different model?
Not for the Grok Imagine 1.5 video option: SynthPulse runs that model alongside other choices. Selecting Kling or Seedance changes the model. The Grok app, chat and subscription bundle remain separate products.
Do I need an X subscription?
No X or Grok subscription is required to use Grok Imagine 1.5 video through SynthPulse. Generation uses your SynthPulse credits and the settings shown in its studio. That does not provide X Premium or Cursor benefits.
Is Grok Imagine free?
xAI’s current Free plan lists limited Imagine image generation. The checked source did not confirm video access on Free or Plus; Premium explicitly advertises videos. SynthPulse offers sign-up credits subject to eligibility, rather than unlimited free video.
Can I generate Grok images in SynthPulse?
No. The supplied SynthPulse model list includes Grok Imagine 1.5 video only. Its still-image options include GPT Image, Nano Banana and Seedream. Use the native Grok service if you specifically need its image model.
Are xAI API prices the same as SynthPulse prices?
No. API rates, a consumer subscription’s weekly allowance and a SynthPulse credit quote are three different billing arrangements. Compare the cost shown for your intended model and settings in the service you plan to use.
